Catching a Ride!

Here is Boogie with his Daddy on the lawnmower. We tried to find his kid sunglasses (to keep the sand/dirt out of his eyes) but we couldn't so I let him use a really big pair of mine! Check those ears out! Daddy's earplugs were too big for his tiny ears, so he had to wear some ear muffs I had bought him when he was tiny to protect his ears from the loud drums @ church! He loves to ride the lawnmower or tractor... whichever Daddy is on at the time! I can't believe how fast he is growing...

Talk Talk Talk

He can say almost anything he wants to now... he is making sentences and putting words together like you wouldn't believe! The other day we were at the playground and he spoke to a little girl... He said, "you girl, your name?" She said "Emma"... he patted his chest and said, "Me Cade". I thought that was the most precious thing!

His memory is even more amazing. About 3 months ago we went the movies and got some popcorn. We hadn't had any popcorn since and when someone offered him some at the ballgame I told him it was popcorn and he like it the last time he tried it... with not hesitation he looked at me and said, "At the movies, mama?" How does he do that? And he is remembering names and Lord forbid that I tell him we might do something in a few days b/c in a few days he will remind me that I said it!

Potty Training

This week has been an excellent week for the potty! He has told me every time that he has to go... even poo poos! I'm so proud of him... Life will be much easier with just one baby in diapers... Everyone says that he will regress when Baby C gets here, but I really hope he doesn't regress that much! He likes to stand at the potty and pee pee now... for the longest he wanted to sit down and do it... I don't really care how he does it as long as he does it!

It could have been you...

Harley Chestnut, 3 months old, died today. She was fine at 3 am when her mom fed her, but dad checked on her at 7 am and she wasn't breathing... he tried hard to bring her back... Mason, her big brother new that she had already gone to be with Jesus and her Granny... he told his dad so... I kept thinking it could have been you, or that it could happen to your unborn baby brother... God knew my fears... he sent Bro. Gene by to tell me not to have a spirit of fear... I don't know how he knew how I was feeling, but God had to impress those words on his heart to reassure me... I hope I never have to know what I would do in that situation... I never want that situation to happen to me, ever, ever, ever!!!!!

Potty Rebellion

You have been doing fairly well with using the potty when Mommy can remember to tell you to... you still don't tell mommy when you have to go and you don't like using it for anyone else... yesterday and today have been rebellious days! You soiled every pair of pants you had yesterday and at least 1/2 that many today... tomorrow we must do better, me and you!!

Things you say...

I love when you say "Hold ya, mama!" It's so sweet... I guess you got it from asking "Do you want us to hold ya?" It's the sweetest thing to my ears!

Grocery Shopping

I finally broke down and went shopping for Groceries. The prices are killing me these days, but anyway... Cade was so good and we talked and sang all the way through the store. At some point I must have picked up something he liked or done something that pleased him because he looked at me and said "good job, mama, give me five!" I thought that was so sweet. So we had to give five for the next five minutes, but I'm so proud of the way he is making sentences. Now if we can just get him to use the potty so well!!! :-)

A baby and an uptight dad!

Lord, all I can do is pray for wisdom!! How do you deal with a daddy who wants their boy to not do everything he said he wouldn't do? Last night we went to a family restaurant and Cade wanted to take in a talking toy. That's fine with me if it keeps him seated and occupied, right? Well, daddy didn't think it was okay... Why, he wanted to know, did he have to take in a loud toy in a restaurant? Well, considering the noise level, it would never have been heard even by the next table. And considering that he is two, he wouldn't even play with it inside... it's just a battle of wills, right? Well, I was right (again) on both counts of consideration. Of course, daddy was just upset that I said he could when he thought he shouldn't... he's a boy and should be able to sit at the table and wait with the rest of us... at 2 years old!

Well, supper went on. (I did unknowingly leave my hubby and baby sitting in the waiting area for quite a while. I really thought they were behind me and followed me to our seat and I just assumed he stopped to talk to someone!) Anyway, Cade of course, isn't hungry when we are and he wants to walk around the mostly empty restaurant (with staff working all around that I know personally). It was fine with me and everyone sitting with us to let him go and casually watch him. Well, Daddy couldn't stand it... he had to go get him much to Cade's horror! He just didn't want his child to be unruly. He said he would never let him do that. We won't even talk about a similar incident that happened at church.

Well, just get over the uptightness honey... there's another one coming and though I'm praying that he will be as sweet and passive as our little Cade, you just never know! They can't be grown at 2 and they will do what we said we would never let them do! So relax, smile, and let them be... one day they will learn to be prim and proper and we will learn to smile for different reasons, but now, let's smile at all their little antics...

Oh, and by the way, Lord... how do I tell him that a 2 year old will not by any means get on his knees and pray for 20 minutes straight? Though I am very thankful for this new prayer time that he wants us to have together! So, I'll let you work it out, okay!

Remembering potty training...

The woes of potty training! Our Lala told me that when I sit Cade on the potty and he doesn't peepee then pour some warm water on his weewee and he'll pee everytime. Well, I tried this and guess what, no peepee! He looked down and then looked up and said, "more Momma, more"! Well, whatever it takes to get him to want to sit on the potty!

What is the opposition to wanting to use the potty? I don't understand, really. But I put him on there every 20 minutes and then he gets up off the potty, walks to my wool rug and squats... why, oh, why??? And forget, boobooing on the potty, I guess it feels better in his choo-choo train undies!
